Abstract
- This paper offers an overview on quantitative researches in Information Systems (IS) over the last ten years, focusing specifically on operations research (OR). We analyzed papers published from 2000 to 2009 in the area of Information Management in the journals EnANPAD and RAC, BAR and RAC Eletrônica during this period. We found only a small proportion of works in the area of operational research (OR). Among these, there was a predominance of works on the use of the AHP multi-criteria method and the DEA method, both of which contribute to managerial decision making. It was also found that most research in the area that used methods of OR was carried out by institutions in the Southeast (46%) and South (44%) regions of Brazil, and that most of these papers (46%) were published by researchers from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and Estácio de Sá University, both of which have specific research areas in IS. It is important to note that among the publications analyzed, there were research partnerships from different institutions, which is in line with the policy of CAPES of encouraging joint scientific production. As a contribution, this paper presents a framework with a series of references on the methods of OR addressed in this study, which could serve as a guide to bibliographies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
