Abstract

In 2010, archaeological reconnoitring was continued jointly by experts from the Našice Regional Museum and the Institute of Archaeolog y in Zagreb. This time, the cadastral municipality of Podgorač was reconnoitred. 19 archaeological sites were documented, of which 6 belong to prehistoric periods, 9 to the Middle Ages, and 4 to both. Most of the sites were already known from before, while 3 are new. At three sites, trial-trenching had been conducted between 1970 and 1980. These are: the Starčevo culture settlement of Gaj; the Ražište settlement, which belongs to a special type of Sopot culture (Neolithic sites); and the late Litzen pottery and late Pannonian encrusted pottery Breške settlement (beginning of the middle Bronze Age). The archaeological prospecting of this cadastral municipality will be continued. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
