Abstract
- Reports that the U.S. and Europe are attempting to develop a vaccines because of the threat of bioterrorism. Efforts of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and Britain's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down; Description of a nasal spray that could protect against a range of pathogens; Involvement of Coley Pharmaceutical Group to develop vaccines, including the CpG drug, that protects mice against anthrax, smallpox, and the Ebola virus; Use by DARPA and Porton Down to improve the anthrax vaccine; Efforts of the Pasteur Institute to improve anthrax vaccines.
