- Says that New York City Mayor David N. Dinkins announced that a ticker-tape parade will be held for troops returning from the Persian Gulf War. It will be paid for through donations collected by a committee of private citizens, and will include an ecumenical religious service and a fireworks display during the week of May 11 (Armed Forces Week).
