Abstract
- In this paper, the performance of interference-limited wireless networks in an asynchronized environment is analyzed. A modified model is proposed to calculate precisely the amount of interference by carefully addressing the overlap of transmissions, which results due to frequency reuse in the network. For the proposed model, taking medium-access-control (MAC) constraints into account, the probability of a node being in the guard zone and the effective number of interferers are calculated. Closed-form expressions are derived for a specific case. Here, a link-probability-based range is used in place of a unit disk model (UDM), and a two-slope (TS) path-loss model is used to account for path-loss conditions. Outage performance is analyzed using the proposed interference model. Effects of antenna height on network performance are also investigated through simulations. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
