Abstract

The article reports that the University of Miami was penalized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), removing 12 scholarships due to a decade of violations in men's football and basketball programs. According to the NCAA, the university has lacked of institutional control over its programs, which fails to monitor student-athletes and coaches. It adds that the penalties were added to its self-imposed penalties in previous years, such as the ban in 2011 and 2012 bowl games.
