Abstract
- The author reflects on the state of U.S. politics, arguing that populists are taking control form plutocrats despite smaller numbers and less economic power. Citing the influence of the Tea Party in the Republican Party, opposition to nominee Lawrence H. Summers as head of the U.S. Federal Reserve, and the popularity of New York City mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio, she states that plutocratic politics are limited due to the reliance on financial influences.
