Abstract
- The article examines the state of nuclear energy in Japan as of November 2013. The dangers of decommissioning the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant are discussed. Concerns that the utility company Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) is incapable of the decommissioning and cleanup of the accident are discussed. The desire of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government to restart the country's nuclear power plants is contrasted with public opposition to doing so.
