Abstract

Considers the average life span of paper money. Bank of Canada spokesman Guy Theriault estimates that the $1,000 bill, which was newly issued with a reflective film patch that changes color when tilted, has an average life span of 33 years. Thenew bills cost eight cents apiece to make, up three cents from the old design.
