Abstract
- The article offers a look at the Republican National Convention in Houston, Texas, in which U.S. President George Bush and Vice President Dan Quayle were formally endorsed. Both candidates assailed the character of Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton, focusing on his family values. Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, so far, gave the most optimistic view of a Republican victory with an appeal straight from history and the Bible. But Reagan's call for hope was not reciprocated by Bush when he, himself, accused the U.S. Congress of nurturing the paralysis of legislative action.
