Abstract

The article discusses research into contribution of fertility treatments to increasing multiple birth rates in the U.S. The study used birth records gathered from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). It reports proportion of multiple births which resulted from medically-assisted conception such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). The link between advanced maternal age during fertility treatments and multiple births is noted.
