Dispersal of ectomycorrhizal basidiospores: the long and short of it.

The authors respond to the comments made on their article about the dispersal of ectomycorrhizal basidiospores. They disagree with the argument that their paper did not address long distance dispersal (LDD) in the fungi. They note that their intention was to direct renewed attention to problem of spore dispersal in the context of spatial patterns of ecological interactions between ectomycorrhizal plants and fungi. They suggest the implications of spores released from a basidiomycete sporocarp.
