Abstract

The concept of proclamation can be extended beyond the traditional meaning of preaching, testimony and witness. Proclamation can be communicated through individuals and institutions. The primary thesis of this paper is that institutions proclaim through individuals and individuals proclaim through institutions. To illustrate this point I intend to describe how a group of Black Catholic Students are attempting to make the religious experience relevant to themselves and their community through an institutionalized social action structure, the Black Christian Student Movement. We cannot understand the development as an organization like Black Christian Students unless we understand the parallel development of Black Power. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
