The article discusses the role of glucagon in the treatment of diabetes. Studies suggest that glucagon suppression may be considered by increased insulin with hyperglycemia, and glucagon stimulation by reduction in insulin with hypoglycemia. There are studies which also suggest that glucagon action may extend beyond glycemia to include effects on weight and lipid homeostasis.
