Abstract

The article discusses a study on the incidence of HIV infection among African American men who have sex with men (MSM) in North Carolina from 2011 to 2013. The study found that 41 percent of sex partners and social contacts of MSM had been previously diagnosed with HIV infection. Results also revealed the inability of the majority of HIV-positive partners to achieve viral suppression. The implications of the findings for the public health practice are noted.
