Abstract

Evaluates the usefulness of pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and automated ribotyping to monitor and characterize the multidrug-resistant strain of Salmonella enterica (S.) Newport in Massachusetts. Characteristics of S. Newport; Details of the PFGE patterns for several organisms, such as Shigella spp. and Campylobacter spp.; Ribotype patterns that are associated with the S. Newport serotyped isolates.
