Abstract

In the contribution, it is the very prelinguary deaf people who give voice to their relations to the reading and the libraries. They speak about what books mean for them, what they would like to find in the libraries, how libraries should look like. Their responses show how a possible prelinguary deaf visitor/user of the library may look like. The libraries should adapt their space design, adjust their collections and, primarily, their attitude towards the deaf [and hearing-impaired] people if they want to attract them. The basis of successful communication is the (Czech) sign language. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
