Abstract: Library users with special needs have to overcome different kinds of barriers. Barriers often not considered as an obstacle, but presenting significant difficulties in gaining access to libraries and information sources, are highlighted. Specific problems of visually impaired persons, person with different diseases, patients in hospitals, socially excluded persons, minority groups and persons with communication problems are discussed.
