Abstract
- An essay is presented about the ancient Athenian concept of parrhesia, or free speech, and its relationship with flattery. The author explores how can a comedian speak with parrhesia, who is also tempted to flatter. She also proves Aristophanes' critique of flattery, his own use of it, and his presentation of the figure of old man Demos.
