Women and Politics in Cities: Determinants of the Descriptive Representation of Women in City Halls and Councils.

A conference paper about women in politics is presented which is to be presented at the annual meetings of the American Political Science Association from September 3-6, 2009 in Toronto, Ontario. The paper discusses topics including the history of women in elected office in the U.S., women in policymaking positions, and the election of women to city councils in the 1970s and 1980s.
