Abstract

This study aims to point out the effect of the applied geography education in nature on the academic achievement of the students with superior capacities. The study was designed on single group pre-test/post-test experimental pattern model. The study was performed on 45 students studying at Ankara Science and Art Center (BİLSEM) and Yasemin KARAKAYA Science and Art Center in 2010-2011 academic year. It was determined that the one week applied geography education resulted in a significant and meaningful increase in their academic achievements. Based upon these results it can conveniently be proposed that it is necessary to focus on the field research and the nature related projects in the geography education of the students with superior capacity.
