Ethnic boundary making as strategic action: reply to my critics.

A response is offered to comments on the book "Ethnic Boundary Making: Institutions, Power, Networks," by this article's author within the issue. Topics including belonging, the relationship between emotions and ethnic boundaries and ethnic and racial categorization, or classification, are discussed. The role that social constructivism plays in the categorization of ethnic groups, including the perspective of radical constructivists that the conception of ethnicity is influenced by power and hegemony, is discussed.
