Abstract
- The article discusses the influence of American culture in Japan. Particular focus is given to Japanese recreations of American beverages, music, clothing, and food. These include bourbon, jazz music, 20th century American fashion, and hamburgers. It is suggested that the value placed on mastery in Japanese culture enables a deep appreciation and refinement of elements of other cultures.
