Abstract
- A novel organic–inorganic hybrid compound <f>[(Cu(bIz)2)]2[{Cu(bIz)2}2Mo8O26]</f> (1) has been synthesized from solvothermal reaction of benzimidazole, <f>NaMoO4</f> and <f>MoO3</f> with <f>CuCl2·2H2O</f> in <f>H2O/CH3OH</f> solution and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Crystallographic data for 1: monoclinic, space group C2/c, <f>a=23.6823(2)</f> A˚, <f>b=20.2669(5)</f> A˚, <f>c=16.0220(3)</f> A˚, <f>β=109.030(1)</f>, <f>Z=8</f>, <f>V=7269.8(2) A˚3</f>. The compound consists of a centrosymmetric β-octamolybdate-supported complex anion <f>[{Cu(bIz)2}2Mo8O26]2−</f>, and two bis-bIz coordinated Cu(I) cations. The hydrogen bonds between <f>[{Cu(bIz)2}2Mo8O26]2−</f> anions generate a interesting 1D ladder. TG analysis, UV–Vis spectra and fluorescent spectroscopy of the compound were also studied.
