Abstract

This article discusses the role of the Catholic Church in Zamora, Mexico, during the period 1909-1913. The author comments on the concept of social Catholicism in the region and describes the social intervention policies of the Church directed towards peasants and the working class in Zamora, citing the work of bishop José Othón Núñez. He also considers the political activity of the clergy and laypeople of the Church, including the development of Catholic social organizations concerned with the conditions of Mexican workers.
