Abstract

The article discusses the U.S. labor court case filed by National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football player Fred W. Rensing against his school Indiana State University after being paralyzed while practicing. It states that Rensing spent several years fighting to be considered as a state employee to receive benefits for his injuries. It notes that the court ruled in favor of NCAA which bolstered its view that its athletes are amateurs.
