Abstract
- The article presents research on the professional development of early childhood educators through internships in various early childhood centers under the guidance of experienced educators acting as mentors. It studies the function and role of mentors during an intern's interaction with students during an educational activity. It presents empirical data collected in three early childhood centers and discusses the three main participation configurations including observation, co-teaching, and acting as a role model.
