Abstract
- The article discusses the operations of the U.S. Merchant Marine and world maritime. The performance of the container shipping market declined in 2013, and emerging economies such as China, India, Brazil, and Indonesia also grew at a much slower pace. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated that the global GDP increased 3 percent in 2013, due to the economic recovery in the U.S., Japan, and the European Union.
