The Underlying Cause of the Conflict Between Russia and the EU Over the Baltic States' Energy Security.

The article presents remarks made by the author at a 2013 conference on international relations and European integration. It is stated that the primary cause of tensions between the European Union (EU) and Russia over the status of the Baltic states results from EU efforts to reduce the role of Russia's energy industries in supplying power resource exports to those countries.
