Abstract
- Describes the role of zinc as a structural component of a large number of proteins. Stabilization of folded conformations of domains through the binding of zinc; Facilitation of interactions between proteins and other macromolecules; Ability of zinc to be bound specifically within a range of tetrahedral sites that allow the evolution of zinc-stabilized domains.
