Abstract

The article reports on the military intervention of Lebanon-based Islamic militant group Hezbollah that sends fighters to aid Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in its civil war that started in 2011. It notes that the bombings in Syria have since stopped leaving Lebanese Shiites grateful for Hezbollah's intervention. Lebanese political analyst Talal Atrissi states that Hezbollah's intervention aimed at preventing the formation of a balance of power against the group and Iran along its allies.
