Abstract

The article reports on research which was conducted to investigate the lower body determinants of running economy in male and female distance runners. Researchers evaluated 63 male and female runners. They found that while leg stiffness and movement are related to running economy, no single lower body measure can completely explain differences in running economy between individuals or genders.
