Abstract
- Abstract: We report on the organogels of a new series of compounds containing a benzoylhydrazide unit and three long alkoxy chains. SEM images revealed that the morphologies of the xerogels strongly depend on the polarity of the gelling solvent. Textured spheroid-like morphologies were observed in the xerogels from low polar aromatic solvents such as toluene, whereas fibrous morphologies from ethanol. Further detailed analysis of their aggregation modes was conducted by FT-IR and X-ray diffraction measurement. The cooperation of hydrogen bonds, hydrophobic interactions and the van der Waals interactions should be the key point of the self-assembly. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
