ChemInform Abstract: Highly Efficient and Diastereoselective Construction of Bispirooxindoles Through a Cascade Michael-Cyclization Reaction.

The diastereoselective synthesis of bisspirooxindoles (III) and (VI) is accomplished through a consecutive Michael addition/cyclization reaction of methyleneindolinones with 3-isothiocyanato oxindoles in the presence of small amounts of tetramethylguanidine as the catalyst. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
