Abstract

The paper presents the exploration of potential of poetic and narrative creativity, as element of therapeutic process, in a relational psychoanalytic perspective. It meditates on trauma and dissociation, key issues, twisting mental process and encumbering the mind potential to generate creatively narrations, by which building subjective experience meaning. Narration loses the possibility to express authentic subjectivity, because subjectivity fragmentation, created by trauma, entails a dissociation between implicit and explicit levels of experience organization. This kind of dissociation regards the authenticity of subjective meanings experience (not only the narration of traumatic events, which can be realized, indeed, in a dissociation status). The therapeutic path of traumatized patients comes along through the construction of alternative forms of mental working, depending heavily on trauma processing and overcoming dissociation as main mental working. An alternative mental working can be reached by new experience made by the patient, supported by the therapist, as witness, reconstructing the validity of patients perceptions (post-traumatically fragmented and dissociated) by way of a new sense of reality. This process makes possible a new story, subjectively, perceived as authentic which can allow the experience of an integrated self and the experience of freedom in creating the meaning of past, present, and future, in the bonds of relational systems allowing to grow. Experience of authentic subjective borns and develops in a relational system and can live in narrative creativity, discovering it self in dialogical stories and building it self trough them.
