Abstract
- ABSTRACT In this article, a reconfigurable antenna that uses a PIN diode is proposed and experimentally investigated. The proposed antenna operates in planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) and loop modes, which are controlled by the on/off operation of a PIN diode inserted into the radiating element. A supplementary stub line generates the additional resonance required to cover the GSM 850/900 bands. Geometrically, the proposed antenna is designed with a folded pattern for reducing its size and occupies an area of 7 × 50 × 4.8 mm3. The antenna operates in the hepta-band containing GSM850, GSM900, DCS, PCS, UMTS, LTE2300, and LTE2500, with a return loss lower than 6 dB. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
