Abstract

Absorption and emission cross-section spectra of Yb3+: Sr3Gd(BO3)3 crystal were measured. The crystal exhibited a broad emission band from 960nm to 1125nm. The diode-pumped continuous wave laser performance of Yb3+: Sr3Gd(BO3)3 crystal was studied for the first time and the best output power of 1.6W with a slope efficiency of 70.3% was obtained. The simultaneous emission wavelengths could be varied from two to five with the change of absorbed pump power. An output power of 0.4W was obtained with two-wavelength emission. Five-wavelength emission at 1060, 1064, 1066, 1071 and 1079nm was realized with the maximum output power of 1.6W. The redshift of the emission wavelengths was observed with the increasing of the absorbed pump power. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
