Abstract

Proposes three HTLV-IIa phylogroups and four HTLV-IIb phylogroups culled from phylogenetic analysis of long terminal repeat (LTR) sequences from 29 HTLV-II strains from endemic and nonendemic populations. Sequences from American and European intravenous drug users; Clustering of sequences from an African Pygmy and Seminole and Pueblo Indians and other non-Indian American samples.
