Abstract: Studies the direct nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectral evidence for the existence of a low-barrier hydrogen bond (LBHB) between the acid catalyst, Tyr-14, and the dienolic intermediate of isomerase. Detection of deshielded resonance by the binding of the dienolate to isomerase; LBHB's role on stabilization and catalytic power of the enzyme.
