Abstract

This article presents statistical data on the U.S. labor force in 1995. Women aged 25 to 34 in the U.S. civilian labor force were slightly more likely than their male counterparts to be college graduates, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Men and women this age are equally likely to have master's degrees or higher. Women are more likely to hold just a bachelor's degree, 23 percent compared with 20 percent. The U.S. labor force had 4.9 million men aged 25 to 34 with at least a bachelor's degree in 1995, compared with 4.5 million women. In 1995, 12.1 million male college graduates aged 35 to 64 were in the labor force, compared with 8.7 million women. Men with college diplomas made up 31 percent of the male work force in this age group, while women made up 26 percent of the female work force.
