Abstract: Informs about the role that expansin, an extracellular protein, plays in the increasing of plant cell wall extensibility. Expansin inducing tissue expansion in vivo; Localized control of tissue expansion possibly sufficient to induce leaf formation; Suggestion of a role for biophysical forces in the regulation of plant development.
