Abstract

Shows that members of anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria are able to reduce dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) with reduced sulphur compounds as oxygen donors. Role in the global sulphur cycle and in marine climate control; DMSO with sulphide characterization by Rhodovolum euryhalinum; Growth of R. euryhalinum with sulphide and DMSO in the dark.
