Abstract
- Drawing on Said, this essay posits an orientalized Sardinia and argues that the regional primitivization of Sardinia derives from its construction via a series of orientalist travelogues. The main argument of the essay is a Saidian reading of Sardinian culture, in which it is maintained that, due to particular historical, geographical and (most interestingly) linguistic factors, Sardinians are particularly enthusiastic participants in the analysis and ‘ethno-orientalization’ of their own culture.
