Abstract

This article deals with the success the Left in upholding its clean air standards and the acceptance of the United Nations Climate Change Treaty by the administration of U.S. President Bill Clinton as of November 1997. In the summer of 1997, President Clinton supported the clean air standards proposed by Carol Browner, head of the Environmental Protection Agency. Although many people were against the proposed standards, leftist health and environment lobbies won the vote. On the other hand, the U.S. is in full agreement to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases. However, President Clinton decided to aim for a less severe emission standards.
