Abstract
- The author discusses the work of artist Kwame Akoto, also known as "Almighty God," and his Almight God Art Works collective, focusing on analysis of a series of paintings that present a campaign against smoking as an appendix to the author's article "The Art of Almighty God: In His Own Words" from volume 47, issue two of "African Arts." Topics include Akoto's religious message endorsing evangelical Christianity in his works, his inclusion of human, animal, and plant figures smoking accompanied by anti-smoking texts, and the appropriation of the Joe Camel cigarette mascot in the early paintings in the series.
