Abstract: The article reports that as of August 7, 2014, the Jihadist organization Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have advanced in northern Iraq, taking control of the Mosul Dam after defeating the Kurdish pesh merga military force. It also notes that political leaders have met to appoint a replacement for Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, who has lost the support of the U.S. government.
