Abstract

The article presents a case study on the development of cleaning systems such as effervescent compounds for reverse osmosis (RO) membrane plants to prevent fouling. Topics discussed include the impact of fouling on membranes such as damaging salt rejection capabilities and polyamide layer, factors that could damage RO membranes which include backpressure phenomena, differential pressure, and abrasion process, and the importance of volume, size, and distribution of bubble on foulant removal.
