Abstract

The essay looks at political and economic conditions in Great Britain, focusing on the dominant role of London, England, in the country and possible urban and regional planning strategies. It describes the economic inequality both within London and between London and the rest of the country, referred to as the North-South divide. Topics include the upcoming Scottish referendum on independence; housing and transportation policies; immigration; and planning issues related to global warming.
