Abstract

Korea is a peninsula which is surrounded by the Yellow Sea (shallow sea), the southern sea and the East Sea (deep sea). These circumstances always make us consider that a platform could have good motion performances in both shallow and deep seas. In this paper, the typical spar type platform of the Offshore Code Comparison Collaboration Hywind Floating Offshore Wind Turbine (FOWT) has been modified and a new concept FOWT platform is suggested for both seas. Its motion performances are evaluated by both 1:80 scale model tests and full scale numerical simulations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
