Abstract: The article discusses the WARM (Waste Reduction Model) created by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to facilitate tracking and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by solid waste planners and organizations. The author focuses on version 13 of the WARM model and discusses the revisions made. Topics include energy wastage in food wastage, emissions associated with common breakfast food items like bananas, food decay rates, gas collection efficiency and food waste in landfills.
